A note from Executive Director Chandler Means regarding the COVID-19 outbreak:

To our AGAPE Community,

Wow…What a few days this has been! If you are like me, your perception of the severity of the COVID-19 coronavirus threat has dramatically changed over the past week or two and especially the past few days. As an agency, we are heeding guidance given by the Metro Public Health Department and the CDC, as well as our local, state and national leaders. With this in mind, here are a few updates:

  • We are beginning to offer remote tele-therapy services to better serve our counseling clients.
  • Staff are either working remotely or practicing social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing within the office. We are requiring the same of our clients who come to the office.
  • Our emergency domestic violence shelter continues to remain open 24/7, following the same guidelines as our front office. We're also grateful to have 37 AGAPE foster families currently caring for 45 children.
  • All group events or training sessions have been canceled through March 31.

Our utmost concern at this time is for our AGAPE team and the 100+ children, families and individuals we are serving each day with the healing love of Christ. As we continue providing our services, we want to offer others hope and peace during this time of uncertainty, knowing that our purpose and strength comes from the Lord. We need your prayers for our staff and for those we serve, as well as your continued financial support in light of the economic downturn that will impact AGAPE’s operations.

I believe that when we look back on the events of the past few weeks with the tornado, the coronavirus, and some other challenging situations our organization has already faced in 2020, we will see God’s hand through it all and the good that will come from it both personally and as an agency.

Finally, I want to leave you with a passage I read Sunday from Isaiah as part of our live-stream worship service...

8 “But you, Israel, my servant,
    Jacob, whom I have chosen,
    you descendants of Abraham my friend,
9 I took you from the ends of the earth,
    from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
    I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

- Isaiah 41:8-10
