A note from Executive Director Chandler Means regarding the COVID-19 outbreak:

To our AGAPE Community,

Under Mayor Cooper's guidance, AGAPE is considered an essential service, meeting the needs of children, women, families and individuals across Middle Tennessee through foster care, adoption, domestic violence relief and professional counseling. As an agency, we are heeding guidance given by the Metro Public Health Department and the CDC, as well as our local, state and national leaders. With this in mind, here are a few updates:

  • We now offer remote teletherapy and web-based virtual counseling sessions to new and existing clients. Click here for more information.
  • Staff are either working remotely or practicing social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing within the office. We are requiring the same of any clients who come to the office.
  • Our emergency domestic violence shelter continues to remain open 24/7, following the same guidelines as our front office. We also have 37 AGAPE foster families currently caring for 45 children.

Our utmost concern at this time is for our AGAPE team and the 100+ children, families and individuals we are serving each day with the healing love of Christ. As we continue providing our services, we want to offer others hope and peace during this time of uncertainty, knowing that our purpose and strength comes from the Lord. We need your prayers for our staff and for those we serve, as well as your continued financial support in light of the economic downturn that will impact AGAPE’s operations.

I believe that when we look back on the events of the past few months and some other challenging situations our organization has already faced in 2020, we will see God’s hand through it all and the good that will come from it both personally and as an agency.

Finally, I want to leave you with this passage from Isaiah:

8 “But you, Israel, my servant,
    Jacob, whom I have chosen,
    you descendants of Abraham my friend,
9 I took you from the ends of the earth,
    from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
    I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

- Isaiah 41:8-10
