Traci HodgesTraci Hodges joined the AGAPE team in 2020 as a Court Advocate. She is one of four AGAPE staff members who serve at the Family Safety Center on Murfreesboro Pike to provide immediate assistance to victims of domestic violence. In partnership with the Metro Office of Family Safety, the AGAPE team provides services after hours on weekdays, as well as on weekends and holidays, enabling Nashville’s Family Safety Center to provide 24/7 access to domestic violence resources and assistance. Traci is an integral part of our team, and we are so thankful for her passion and commitment to serving others! To learn more about Traci and her work, check out the Q&A below.

Describe your role:

In my role, I assist victims of domestic violence with finding resources, shelter, processing Orders of Protection, and developing Safety Plans.

When did you join AGAPE?

Although Nashville is my hometown, my husband and I lived in San Diego, CA for almost 7 years before relocating back to Nashville in August 2020 during the pandemic. I became a member of the AGAPE family in September 2020.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is having the chance to make a difference in the lives of the victims who come to the Family Safety Center in their most vulnerable state. I also love knowing that I have connections with various partnerships in our organization who can help someone in need get to a better place, even if it’s just to obtain peace of mind, or having assurance that when they leave here, they feel safer. This adds volume to what I do here at AGAPE!

What about your work might surprise people?

I think people are surprised to find out that the Family Safety Center operates 24 hours a day. The AGAPE Advocates are available to serve the victims who may need us outside of regular business hours. The facility is also cozy and welcoming. We hear many compliments on how nice it is on the inside; people are often surprised to see how nice it is!

What motivates you?

Every day that God awakens me gives me the opportunity to bring my best self and best effort towards helping others. I try to remember “you never know what the next person is going through.” With that in mind, I aim to be the best I can be and pray that I will leave a lasting impression and positive impact on those who may be going through difficult times.

What have you learned since joining AGAPE?

I’ve learned that everyone has a story to tell and being an active listener without being judgmental is an important part of my role.

Do you have a favorite memory from working at AGAPE?

The fellowship with my co-workers has been phenomenal. I am looking forward to creating more memories with everyone.

What do you like to do for fun?

Interior decorating, cooking, and taking my “G-babes” on “Grand” adventures! “Grand” is what they call me by the way. :)

Tell us a little about your family:

I am married to my wonderful, supportive husband, Greg Hodges. We have three children, four grand-children (two girls; two boys), and a grand-dog named Cotton. Spending quality time with my family is very important to me. I don’t take it for granted and I value it more than anything!
