Since 2008, Morning Star Sanctuary has assisted victims of domestic violence in obtaining Orders of Protection (i.e. a restraining order). This service was provided at Metro’s Criminal Justice Annex, aka “Night Court”, until the new Family Safety Center opened in 2019 at 610 Murfreesboro Pike. Nashville’s Family Safety Center serves individuals who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking or child abuse. Morning Star staff are onsite to provide services 16 hours per day, before and after regular daytime business hours, 5 days per week, plus around the clock on all holidays and weekends.

"It is because of AGAPE’s work that Nashville holds the proud distinction of being the only and first 24/7-operating Family Justice Center in the country,” said Diane Lance, Department Head of the Metro Office of Family Safety. “Domestic violence happens 24/7, and this is the reason help needs to be available 24/7. We deeply value the amazing life-saving work that AGAPE does for the city and for those in need."

In 2019, Morning Star advocates assisted 1,578 victims with their petitions for Orders of Protection. They also provided referral information for needs such as emergency shelter, counseling, legal services, safety planning and more. To learn more about the Metro Office of Family Safety click here.
